Localization of the Breast Lesion with Double-Dye Method

Abstract

|
The most reliable method increasing the survival rate in patient with breast cancer is early diagnosis. Furthermore if we could diagnose the breast cancer before being palpable, that is surprising to increase the survival rate in patients with
the
breast cancer. From May, 1992 to July, 1993, we tried to localizing the breast lesion preoperatively by double-dye method, which involved the injection of the 0.5ml of a mixture of gastrografin and methylene blue directly into the breast to the
site of
imaging abnormality a few hours before surgery. After excision of the lesion, specimen mammography was taken to ensure that the correct area has been removed.
Gastrografin was not obscure the calcifications at specimen mammography since it was rapidly absorbed and the dye had no effect on effect on specimen mammography. And no complications was encountered with double-dye localization.
